Overview of the IELTS Coaching in Abu Dhabi

Time Training Center’s IELTS preparation course in Abu Dhabi provides 45 hours of structured training, comprising 30 hours of instructor-led lessons covering Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking, followed by 15 hours of timed mock-test practice. Learners choose either the IELTS Academic or IELTS General Training track based on the requirements of the university, employer or immigration authority receiving their score. The two tracks are alternatives rather than additional modules, with differences limited to the Reading texts and Writing Task 1.

Classes are led by Greeshma Gangadharan in small groups of three to four learners at Khalaf Al Otaiba Tower on Electra Street, with a live online option also available. The same location hosts the British Council IELTS test venue, Abu Dhabi - Time Training Center - Electra Street, allowing learners to prepare in the same building where the official IELTS test is delivered. Time Training Center is an ACTVET-approved training institute and operates an ISO 9001:2015-certified quality management system.

The course begins with a diagnostic test that establishes your IELTS track and target band. Learners complete five full-length mock tests, receive a component-level score report, individually corrected Writing tasks and live Speaking mock-test feedback. On completion, learners receive a Time Training Center Course Completion Certificate, while official IELTS band scores are issued separately by the test provider.

If you require IELTS for UKVI, IELTS Life Skills, OET or PTE, check with our team before enrolling, as these tests have different formats, booking procedures, scoring systems and fees.

What is IELTS?

IELTS (International English Language Testing System) is an internationally recognised English language proficiency test that assesses Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking. It reports a band score from 0 to 9 for each component, along with an overall band score. Universities, immigration authorities, professional regulators and employers set their own required IELTS scores. IELTS is available in two main versions; Academic and General Training, which differ in their Reading texts and Writing Task 1.

IELTS is jointly owned by the British Council, IDP: IELTS Australia, and Cambridge University Press & Assessment. In Abu Dhabi, the test is delivered through British Council and IDP test centres, depending on the test format and location.

Who should take the IELTS Classes in Abu Dhabi?

A working level of English is required. A diagnostic test in the first session identifies whether you are ready for IELTS preparation or should take general English first, and sets your target band.

  • Applicants to Abu Dhabi universities: Khalifa University, Zayed University, Abu Dhabi University and Rabdan Academy each publish their own English entry requirement, and they are not the same.
  • Applicants to universities abroad: An offer usually names an overall band and a separate minimum for each component.
  • UAE nationals applying to diplomacy or scholarship programmes: Abu Dhabi postgraduate pathways such as Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy and the Rabdan Academy scholarships publish their own IELTS minimums.
  • International medical graduates: Department of Health Abu Dhabi residency and internship programmes currently publish Academic IELTS 6.0 for international graduates, with TOEFL and OET alternatives.
  • General Training candidates applying through a specified migration route: Several immigration streams score each component on its own rather than the overall band, so check which your route uses before you set a target.
  • Candidates retaking IELTS: Bring your Test Report Form. The diagnostic starts from your actual component scores rather than from zero.
