Why should you continue to strive for the OET Test Even During COVID 19?

The outbreak of Covid-19, the pandemic that has left the world restless, specifically the healthcare world has placed high demands on professionals in this field.  Hospitals across the world are forced to improve their level of administration and functioning so that they can act quickly without fail. This fast-paced growth of the healthcare industry is not limited to the current scenario but will continue in a Post- COVID 19 context too.

Even after the lockdown is lifted there will be a surge in the requirement of healthcare professionals. As a result, opportunities are golden for those pursuing a career in this field. It is not only sufficient to be extremely good at your job but to be able to act with ease in different scenarios, first of which is to be able to communicate effectively. As we all know you cannot put yourself to test your ability to communicate in English anywhere better than in OET exams.

Why Study during COVID - 19?

When was the last time you stayed home for so long? When was the last time you spent a whole day with your family? With the lockdown under effect, you got to do everything you kept putting off for so long. So, take this time and make the best use of it. OET preparations can take a full swing during this lockdown period.

  • Being at home can help you act on your skills by choosing to study when you want and how you want.
  •  Enrol an online training program to guide you through your preparations.

Since you want to work on all the different sections - listening, reading, writing and speaking, you can invest a good amount of time on each section in detail.

  • Watching TV is a good way to get used to fine English, Outback ER is an Australian television show related to healthcare and is a perfect choice.
  • Read as much as you can and upgrade your vocabulary.
  • Practice writing letters similar to the ones you will be asked to write during your exams or keep a short journal, by making a record of your daily activities.
  • Rehearse for scenarios similar to those you will come across during your speaking sessions.
  • You could even ask a family member if good at English to assist and evaluate how well you handle your language.

Crisis and Communication

OET’s speaking session checks your clinical level of communication - how good you are at building a relationship, gathering information and approaching your patients. After a crisis, you have to go an extra mile at improving your clinical ability because hospitals have become risk zones people fear to visit.  Patients can be anxious or doubtful and it is you who must deal with them, make them feel that they are in safe hands.

Your ability to communicate in this crisis can only restore the trust of patients to visit hospitals again. Continuing to strive for the OET will help you achieve this goal as well.

Conclusion

The medical industry across the world is in need of confident health workers and professionals like you. With Covid-19 lockdown, you get time to spare for your preparation and crack OET effortlessly. Why waste time? Make a smart move now.
